Field Engineering consists of four groups: Design, Capital Improvement Field Engineering Inspectors, Private Development Field Engineering Inspectors, and Land Survey. The Design group designs and administers the City's Capital Improvement Program to improve the City's infrastructure and public facilities. Projects are planned, designed and put out to bid. Current projects out to bid may be found on eBidboard. The two Field Engineering Inspection groups provide construction inspection of Capital Improvement Projects and Private Development Projects to ensure compliance with all applicable ordinances, codes, regulations, and standards adopted. In doing so, Field Engineering contributes to the improvement of the quality of life of the residents of the city of Escondido. The Survey group provides survey services to the two Field Inspection groups, the Capital Design group, and other City Departments or Divisions requesting surveying services.
