Capital Equipment MaintenanceFleet Services maintains more than 600 pieces of equipment and vehicles, including sedans, trucks, riding mowers, chippers, trailers, heavy equipment, construction equipment, paramedic vans, fire trucks, police patrol cruisers, and motorcycle units. Other ServicesFleet Services provides fuels (gasoline, diesel, and propane) for all City vehicles and equipment and provides loaner vehicles and equipment. Fleet Services handles the purchase of new vehicles and the disposal of all surplus City vehicles and equipment. Fleet ManagementAn effective fleet management program reduces costs, extends the life of vehicles and equipment, and supports multiple-use operations for a higher degree of flexibility. This centralized approach also sets citywide priorities for fleet and equipment maintenance and replacement. The City utilizes a computerized fleet management system that allows better management of the fleet by providing up-to-the-minute accurate information. For more information, contact Robert Blackburn, Fleet Maintenance Superintendent, by phone at (760) 839-4883 or by e-mail at rblackburn@escondido.org. |
