More than 300 volunteers assist with projects across the Library and Community Services Department alone.

At the Escondido Public Library, more than 200 volunteers assist with tasks including, but not limited to, teaching adults how to read and improve their literacy skills; shelving and processing materials; instructing children in the sport of chess; and working in the Friends of the Library bookstore sorting and selling used books. Community Services volunteers assist at the Park Avenue Community Center serving meals to seniors as well as Kit Carson Park coaching hockey and soccer leagues. This invaluable support allows staff to spend more time serving patrons and the community.
